Grants Manager will work under the supervision of the Development Director, the Grants Manager’s primary responsibilities are to: 1) assure the completion of all grant-related work in a professional and timely manner; 2) write all foundation, corporate, and government proposals and reports; and, 3) compile evaluation summaries, perform research, or related activities, as needed. The Grants Manager is also responsible for providing support in other areas of development and communications, including events, as requested.

Seeking excellent writer able to produce professional-quality work under tight deadlines. Extremely well-organized, demonstrating attention to detail and ability to calmly and efficiently manage multiple deadlines. Computer literate, required, as is experience with Donor Software, File Maker Pro preferred. An understanding of standard nonprofit laws and regulations, familiarity with the Cultural Data Project and GuideStar, and familiarity with youth development and/or arts funders is a plus.

Online Giving Driven by Donor Experience and Year-End Gifts

“Online Giving Study: Donations Driven by Donor Experience, Year-End Gifts and Large-Scale Disasters.”

A new study from Network for Good and TrueSense Marketing and sponsored by America Online found that more than 20% of all online giving occurs in the last 48 hours of the calendar year. The study found that people give more when the online experience is intimate, emotionally coherent, and convenient.

GuideStar’s Fundraising Survey May Indicate the Beginning of an Economic Recovery

More than 2,300 public charities and 160 private foundations responded to the survey conducted with partners in the National Research Collaborative—the National Center for Charitable Statistics (NCCS), the Association of Fundraising Professionals (AFP), the Center on Philanthropy at Indiana University, Blackbaud, and the Foundation Center. Respondents were asked to compare their organizations’ total contributions in the first 9 months of 2010 to those received during the same period in 2009.

Highlights include:

The proportion of participants reporting decreased contributions dropped 14 percent, from 51 percent in October 2009 to 37 percent in October 2010.

The percentage who said contributions had increased grew 13 percent, from 23 percent in October 2009 to 36 percent in October 2010.

For the eighth consecutive year, a majority (68 percent) of participants reported increased demand for their organizations’ services.

• Yes – a specific plan for a step-by-step program to implement applying for both organization and project grants. I feel this workshop will help my organization(s) be much stronger and make a greater difference.
• Linda’s system is excellent, and although we had many of her pieces in place already, I’m excited to put it all together.
• Basically, the ABC’s of good grant writing.
• This was a great workshop! I learned so much about grantwriting and how to use the process to ensure funding.
• She provided specific templates/resources/documents I intend to implement as grant-writer. She also delivered a lot of knowledge regarding ways we can restructure our fundraising to be more effective.

The MUI program has supported more than 2,200 internships in Los Angeles-area museums and visual arts organizations. The program aims to increase diversity in the visual arts and provide programmatic support. Internships are intended for outstanding underrepresented students.
